: In this Act, unless the subject or context requires otherwise,-
(a) "Court" means the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court under sub-section (1) of Article 137 of the Constitution.
(b) "Minority community" shall mean the ethnic, linguistic and religious groups specified by the Government of Nepal under clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Article 306 of the Constitution based on the national census conducted immediately before the election.
(c) "Commission" means the Election Commission under Article 245 of the Constitution.
(d) "Candidate" means a person who has been nominated as a candidate for a member of the National Assembly in accordance with section 16.
(e) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(f) "Party" means a political party registered with the Commission for the purpose of election and the term also refers to a group of parties participating in the election jointly with a single election symbol.
(g) "Electoral Board" means the Electoral Board as per section 4.
(h) "Election" means an election for a member of the National Assembly in accordance with Clause (a) of Clause (2) of Article 86 of the Constitution and the term also refers to a by-election when the position of an elected member is vacant.
(i) "Election Officer" shall mean an Election Officer appointed under Section 7 and the term also refers to an Assistant Election Officer.
(j) "Election representative" means the election representative appointed under section 29.
(k) "Voters" shall mean members of the provincial assembly, chairmen and vice-chairmen of rural municipalities and heads and deputy heads of municipalities who are named in the electorate according to section 4.
(l) "Polling Officer" shall mean a polling officer appointed as per section 10.
(d) “Ballot” means at an electionA ballot paper arranged for payment shall be referred to and the word shall also refer to the ballot paper used in such electronic device or the digital ballot paper connected to such device in case voting is done by electronic device.
(l) "Ballot box" shall mean the ballot box arranged by the Commission for keeping the ballot paper marked with the vote and the term also refers to the electronic device that records the vote signal of the vote cast by the electronic device.
(n) "National Assembly" means the National Assembly constituted in accordance with Article 86 of the Constitution.
(p) "Member" means a member of the National Assembly.
(q) "Constitution" means the Constitution of Nepal.
